Tandem
Tandem plays a Mac's audio through several speakers in sync.
It sends the Mac's audio output to AirPlay and wired speakers simultaneously and corrects the delay of each speaker so that they play in time. It includes bass management, an equaliser and microphone-based delay measurement.
In testing
Multi-speaker output
Built-in speakers, AirPlay speakers and wired outputs receive the same stream.
Delay measurement
A test signal played through the room is recorded by the Mac's microphone to measure and correct each speaker's delay.
Bass management
Low frequencies are routed to the speaker best able to reproduce them.
Equaliser
The equaliser has flat, music, bass and treble presets.
Idle behaviour
Streaming stops when no audio is playing and resumes automatically.

How does Tandem keep the speakers in time?
It plays a test signal through the room and records it with the Mac's microphone. From that recording it measures each speaker's delay and corrects it.
